Each take the card with their matching combo and a new round begins. Other players have five seconds to get a match and buzz in too. When they get one, they have to ‘buzz’ in by pushing their button on the console. Players must roll their dice to match the combinations shown on the board. Two to four players can play at once and get their own set of five dice. If you child can do this, then they’ll be fine holding their own during the game. Yahtzee is the most popular example, and along with the similar Kismet, it dates the core game mechanic back at least as far as the 1950s. You’ve almost certainly played a roll-and-write game, even if you’ve never heard the term.
